Lalala--song of too much
Crikey. Did you ever have so much to do that you don't even know where to begin? Even the street noise outside my window can't drown out the thoughts in my head (I'm sorry, the melodrama is annoying). Oh, Black Francis, where is my mind? Initially, I wanted to postpone my vacation and wait until July or August to hightail it back home because I usually prefer delayed gratification over instant, but now I'm quite relieved that I'll be able to celebrate the end of a long semester...this coming Thursday, in fact.
Ok, so I've been listening to a lot of Sébastien Tellier lately. Check him out:

Doe, a deer
Work. Plans. Tranquility interspersed with occasional bouts of chaos. You're busy. I'm busy. But s'all good because that's life. It happens.
The day can be such a blur sometimes, but I hope you'll have some moments of clarity.
Anyways, I'm thinking of buying me a keyboard. I just want to jam and make some beautiful tunes.

Friends, I'm a-comin' home! May 19-29, mark your calenders! Warmth and warm people, at long last.
Gainesville ducks are adorable. I like how they came in threes.

Mentos and Diet Coke
"I hope you'll have as much fun in grad school as I will..." (Message received at 12:34 AM.)
As a kid, Peter enjoyed playing with insects and now about 17 years later, he'll be going to school to study what he loved most as a child. Sometimes I can't help but feel worried, living in this world that we live in today. It's a constant widespread pandemonium across the newspapers and television screens and suddenly I'm paralyzed. What can we do? And so with this in mind, that is even more reason to pursue your dreams. Life is too short and there are just too many hardships that we must bear to waste time on a career that you absolutely detest. I hate how hackneyed these "shoot for the stars" inspirational messages have become, but they hold so much power.
Last Friday was my last day in Fenghua's lab and as much as I adored the people on the third floor, I had to say my goodbyes. I shook hands with Scott a couple of weeks ago and so I'll now be a part of the ESCRT team. In terms of work atmosphere, I felt more comfortable with the people in Fenghua's lab, but unfortunately my criteria for selecting a lab was based exclusively on level of research interests and scientific curiosity and the truth is, I have never felt more excited about my work than I do now. I just hope I made the right decision.

Stop and smell the roses
Eventually I would like to learn how to make some sweet paper roses. I've made several attempts already, but it's actually more complicated than these instructional YouTube vids lead you to believe, or perhaps I just lack the patience.

Chickie, My Pet Chick
I have some vague memories of my dad humming Al Martino as a kid before I would go to sleep. Sometimes, whenever I feel even a modicum of discontent in my life, I have the tendency to want to return to my childhood perhaps because it was a time when I was too young and too busy playing with my pet chick to understand life's entangled complexities. Other times, I would actually envy middle-aged folks because I felt that the majority of them have finally reached a certain degree of peace in their lives. Sure at 50, we'll still have our problems, but at least we would be more accepting and more equip to deal with them. It always seems as though we're, well, myself in particular, are in a tug-of-war between wanting to relive our youth and wanting to grow up. But for now, while it may seem like it's taking an eternity to hurl yourself out of this funk, I suppose you ought to think of the struggles that you endure now as an investment for a wonderful future. I assure you, there is promise in tomorrow.
